You can learn to speak Spanish very quickly working at it a couple of hours at a time 3 or 4 times a week.
Spanish is useful to learn nowadays due to the rapid growth of the Spanish population. Many of the Spanish people moving into the US from Mexico, and other Spanish speaking countries have not yet learned to speak English and there is a severe communication gap at times.
There are a huge number of resources available to those who wish to learn the Spanish language.
Some employers have even stepped up to the plate and are paying tuition fees for employees to learn the Spanish language so that someone is available to help its Spanish speaking customers.
This gives the opportunity for people to be able to take classes and learn the language that may not have been able to do so otherwise.
As of 2006, the last officially published numbers available to date, there were more than 43 million Spanish residents in the United States. This creates a significant demand for bilingual employees; especially in the metropolitan areas of most states, but most notably in California and New York.
Still, there is a significant need in most other major cities as well.
